NHL19 Winter Classic – Player Item
As an Interactive Designer for the EA NHL franchise, my role was to produce designs on the Hockey Ultimate Team game mode – tasked with updating daily banners and creating the look and feel of the upcoming live events such as NHL19 Winter Classic. Working closely with designers, producers, software engineers, and quality analysts, I designed event materials such as hockey card items, store packs and screen backgrounds.
As someone who was new to the sports gaming industry, my time at EA encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and get my hands dirty with deep explorations, target audience research, and feedback both within the team as well as from our millions of NHL users.
The 2019 NHL Winter Classic event was held at the Notre Dame Stadium in Indiana. The event is promoted as a return to outdoor rinks, evoking memories of pond hockey. This campaign came with brand guidelines from the NHL, therefore by taking apart the logo, I was able to use icicles, the shamrock, and various other patterns to create the feel of an exciting outdoor hockey event held in Notre Dame.
